1. New York and Brooklyn from Michael_Novakhov (111 sites): Brooklyn Eagle: Cuomo calls on state police to investigate Brooklyn hate crimes twice in one week

Gov. Andrew Cuomo, whose late father’s name was scrawled alongside an anti-Semitic message left by a vandal on a Bay Ridge mailbox on Wednesday, said he will put the resources of the New York State Police on the case.

The vandal wrote the words “Kill All Jews” on the portion of the front of the mailbox listing the pickup schedule. Next to the anti-Semitic message was a drawing that appeared to a haphazard attempt at a swastika. There were two other messages — one that read “Israel Now” and another bearing the name of the former New York governor, Mario Cuomo.

This is the second time in a week in which Cuomo has ordered the state’s Hate Crime Unit to get involved in a Brooklyn incident. On May 30, the words “Hitler is coming” were found scrawled across an interactive display outside the Brooklyn Jewish Children’s Museum. That day, the governor said he had directed the New York State Police Hate Crimes Unit to assist the NYPD in the investigation into the incident and to provide all resources necessary to hold the vandal accountable.

In February, he did the same thing after an incident in Queens.

After the Bay Ridge mailbox incident on Wednesday, he issued the same call.

“I am disgusted to learn of yet another disturbing incident of anti-Semitism in our state, this time with the words ‘Kill All Jews,’ ‘Israel’ and ‘Mario Cuomo’ written on a mailbox in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Hate speech and threatening language has no place in our state, and the mailbox was immediately replaced with a new one after the graffiti was reported,” Cuomo said in a statement on Thursday.

“Enough is enough. We are reaching our breaking point and these despicable acts of violence must stop.”

1. New York and Brooklyn from Michael_Novakhov (111 sites): Brooklyn Eagle: Russell in limbo as Nets chase ‘big fish’

There is perhaps no better example of the Nets’ patient approach to building a winner here in Downtown Brooklyn than D’Angelo Russell.

The previously enigmatic point guard matured greatly under the guidance of head coach Kenny Atkinson last year and has already paid off on general manager Sean Marks’ assessment that he was well worth trading for two summers ago.

Nevertheless, Russell is stuck in wait-and-see mode as the Nets’ brain trust busies itself with the upcoming June 20 NBA Draft at Downtown’s Barclays Center and what should be a frantic free-agent signing period, which officially kicks off on July 1.

“I definitely want to be here,” Russell said, still about a month away from entering restricted free-agent status.

“But I also know it’s a business.”

Russell, who turned 23 in February, went a long way toward making the Nets relevant in the Eastern Conference this past season.

He averaged just over 21 points and seven assists per contest to earn his first-ever NBA All-Star selection, albeit after Indiana’s Victor Oladipo was unable to participate in the festivities due to injury.

But more importantly, Russell, who was sent packing from Los Angeles to Brooklyn with some disparaging comments from former Lakers Team President Magic Johnson in the June 2017 swap that included Nets center Brook Lopez, emerged as the Nets’ undisputed floor leader this past season.

He helped Brooklyn return to the NBA playoffs for the first time in four years and spearheaded the charge to the franchise’s first winning season (42-40) in half a decade.

In other words, he was very good for the Nets’ “business”.

None of that, however, has secured Russell’s spot on the only roster he has claimed to want to be a part of this summer.

That’s because highly touted soon-to-be free agent guard Kyrie Irving is rumored to be interested in becoming a Net, and the team has also been mentioned in talks regarding the acquisition of New Orleans superstar center Anthony Davis via a potential sign-and-swap that could include Russell.

“I’m not going to play that role like I don’t know what could possibly happen,” Russell told the New York Daily News last week, admitting that several “big fish” would have to find homes before he can find his ultimate landing spot.

“Say somebody comes here that I have to be a part of [a trade to acquire them], I know that could be a possibility.”

The possibilities, of course, are endless this time of year.

With the NBA Finals in full swing, pending free agents like Kevin Durant, Kemba Walker, Irving, Jimmy Butler, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard and Tobias Harris, better known as the biggest of the big fish, are on several teams’ wish lists.

The Nets have the option of signing one of these stars and keeping Russell, but first they must seriously consider swapping Russell out for the capability of bringing two big-time free agents to Brooklyn.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith intimated Tuesday that Irving, who has been rumored to be headed to the New York Knicks alongside Durant this summer, is more likely to be playing on the corners of Atlantic and Flatbush avenues next season.

“[Brooklyn] is where he wants to go, not the New York Knicks,” Smith said.

Does the potential signing of Irving mean Russell will have to shop his talents elsewhere ahead of July 4 weekend?

Or does it simply mean that he and Irving will be Brooklyn’s one-two punch going forward?

Russell, who spent last weekend in Spain taking in the Champions League soccer final with teammate Joe Harris, doesn’t have an answer for that.

And Marks may not know either until he does his due diligence to consider every option available for a team that appears to be on the cusp of serious contention in the East.

“We’ll have decisions. D’Angelo is going to have decisions, too,” Marks readily ceded during his season-ending press conference at the team’s Sunset Park-based training facility following the Nets’ playoff elimination at the hands of the 76ers.

“That is a little bit of the nature of this business,” he added. “But at the end of the day, our job is to continue to put talent on the floor for Brooklyn.”

Marks has done that, thanks in large part to Atkinson’s mastery in the realm of player development.

Russell, Caris LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie are just three of the players the Nets have watched blossom into key pieces of the team’s foundation over the past several seasons.

But now the appeal of luring superstar talent for big-time money begs the question of whether Brooklyn can sustain what it has built, or continue to make strides, without unloading its best player from a season ago.

“I just want to stay in this moment and not speak too soon about anything,” Russell noted when asked about the possibility of being jettisoned from his second team in the past three seasons despite enjoying the best of his four NBA campaigns here in Brooklyn last year.

Though he won’t learn his fate any earlier than the next two weeks or so, when the Nets host the draft and perhaps find a way to pry Davis loose from New Orleans with two first-round picks, a second-rounder and maybe Russell as well, the Louisville, Kentucky native seems to understand his place in this ongoing drama.

“There are a lot of fish out there that need to find destinations,” he told the New York Post last week.

“So, whenever that time comes then I have decisions to make on my own, I think I’ll be well ready for it.”

1. New York and Brooklyn from Michael_Novakhov (111 sites): Brooklyn Eagle: Counter-protest planned in support of Gerritsen Beach drag queen story hour

In response to an organized outcry against the Gerritsen Beach Library’s first iteration of Drag Queen Story Hour, other residents have planned a counter-protest to show their support for the event, which is taking place this afternoon.

Drag Queen Story Hour is a worldwide program that invites drag queens to read to kids and teens at libraries, schools, museums and other community spaces. It aims to provide “glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models,” according to the program’s website.

[The counter-protest is scheduled to start outside the branch at 12:30 p.m. — a half an hour prior to opponents’ meeting time.]

As the Gerritsen Avenue branch of the Brooklyn Public Library began advertising its first local installment of the story hour, outraged neighbors started pushing a flyer of their own.

The leaflet – seen scattered throughout Gerritsen Beach as well as posted to various neighborhood Facebook groups – encourages locals to “stand today or we fall tomorrow,” and calls for protesters to convene at the branch one hour prior to today’s event, through to its scheduled end at 3 p.m. The storytime, starring drag queen Angel Elektra, is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

Objectors (who mainly take issue with the event’s suggested age bracket, 0-5) say the “tax payer funded attack on our babies” aims to “groom children into the transgender lifestyle.”

Despite backlash, the Brooklyn Public Library has said that the show will go on and, as tensions continue to mount, southern Brooklyn residents from Gerritsen Beach and beyond have begun to organize in support.

An official counter-protest titled “Hate Has No Home at the Gerritsen Library!” is scheduled to start outside the branch at 12:30 p.m. — a half an hour prior to opponents’ meeting time. “Let’s show Ms. Elektra that she is welcome here in South Brooklyn and we support the public library’s program. Bring your children along and please help to spread the word by inviting others,” reads a description for the rally on Facebook.

Meanwhile, several neighborhoods over in Bay Ridge, a group of residents have hired a van to take supporters to the branch.

An event on Facebook dubbed “Drag Queen Story Hour Support Bus,” encourages those supporters in need of a ride to meet at Cocoa Grinder (8511 Third Ave.) at 12:15 p.m. A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover travel costs.

Backers are encouraged to come (with or without kids) ready to make posters – and in their most “fabulous,” colorful attire.

For Bay Ridge resident Maya Murad, who helped organize the support bus, the cause is personal. Murad said she brought her son to America from a country where homosexuality is illegal. “How quickly he accepted that I’m gay, and loved my former partner, too,” she told the Brooklyn Eagle.

“I want to tell youngsters, not everyone is born the same. They still have to love themselves and each other and shine brightly,” she said. “Kids need to be taught tolerance.”

“Our apologies for the last minute notice, but sometimes you have to mobilize the last minute,” reads a description on the fundraising page. “I call that an emergency response and it is definitely an emergency when our fabulous drag queens are being ostracized. During Pride Heritage Month (of all the times).”

Gerritsen Beach Library is located at 2808 Gerritsen Ave.

Saved Stories – The Brooklyn News: Counterintelligence from Michael_Novakhov (51 sites): Eurasia Review: You’re Under Arrest: How The Police State Muzzles Our Right To Speak Truth To Power – OpEd

“History shows that governments sometimes seek to regulate our lives finely, acutely, thoroughly, and exhaustively. In our own time and place, criminal laws have grown so exuberantly and come to cover so much previously innocent conduct that almost anyone can be arrested for something. If the state could use these laws not for their intended purposes but to silence those who voice unpopular ideas, little would be left of our First Amendment liberties, and little would separate us from the tyrannies of the past or the malignant fiefdoms of our own age. The freedom to speak without risking arrest is ‘one of the principal characteristics by which we distinguish a free nation.’”—Justice Neil Gorsuch, dissenting, Nieves v. Bartlett (2019)

What the First Amendment protects—and a healthy constitutional republic requires—are citizens who routinely exercise their right to speak truth to power.

What the architects of the police state want are submissive, compliant, cooperative, obedient, meek citizens who don’t talk back, don’t challenge government authority, don’t speak out against government misconduct, and don’t step out of line.

For those who refuse to meekly accept the heavy-handed tyranny of the police state, the danger is all too real.

We live in an age in which “we the people” are at the mercy of militarized, weaponized, immunized cops who have almost absolute discretion to decide who is a threat, what constitutes resistance, and how harshly they can deal with the citizens they were appointed to “serve and protect.”

As such, those who seek to exercise their First Amendment rights during encounters with the police are increasingly finding that there is no such thing as freedom of speech.

This is the painful lesson being imparted with every incident in which someone gets arrested and charged with any of the growing number of contempt charges (ranging from resisting arrest and interference to disorderly conduct, obstruction, and failure to obey a police order) that get trotted out anytime a citizen voices discontent with the government or challenges or even questions the authority of the powers-that-be.

Merely daring to question, challenge or hesitate when a cop issues an order can get you charged with resisting arrest or disorderly conduct, free speech be damned.

In fact, getting charged or arrested is now the best case scenario for encounters with police officers who are allowed to operate under the assumption that their word is law and that there is no room for any form of disagreement or even question.

The worst case scenario involves getting probed, beaten, tasered, tackled, searched, seized, stripped, manhandled, shot, or killed by police.

This mindset that anyone who wears a government uniform (soldier, police officer, prison guard) must be obeyed without question is a telltale sign of authoritarianism goose-stepping its way towards totalitarianism.

The rationale goes like this:

Do exactly what I say, and we’ll get along fine. Do not question me or talk back in any way. You do not have the right to object to anything I may say or ask you to do, or ask for clarification if my demands are unclear or contradictory. You must obey me under all circumstances without hesitation, no matter how arbitrary, unreasonable, discriminatory, or blatantly racist my commands may be. Anything other than immediate perfect servile compliance will be labeled as resisting arrest, and expose you to the possibility of a violent reaction from me. That reaction could cause you severe injury or even death. And I will suffer no consequences. It’s your choice: Comply, or die.

Indeed, as Officer Sunil Dutta of the Los Angeles Police Department advises:

If you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you. Don’t argue with me, don’t call me names, don’t tell me that I can’t stop you, don’t say I’m a racist pig, don’t threaten that you’ll sue me and take away my badge. Don’t scream at me that you pay my salary, and don’t even think of aggressively walking towards me.

This is not the attitude of someone who understands, let alone respects, free speech.

Then again, there can be no free speech for the citizenry when the government speaks in a language of force.

What is this language of force?

Militarized police. Riot squads. Camouflage gear. Black uniforms. Armored vehicles. Mass arrests. Pepper spray. Tear gas. Batons. Strip searches. Surveillance cameras. Kevlar vests. Drones. Lethal weapons. Less-than-lethal weapons unleashed with deadly force. Rubber bullets. Water cannons. Stun grenades. Arrests of journalists. Crowd control tactics. Intimidation tactics. Brutality. Contempt of cop charges.

This is not the language of freedom. This is not even the language of law and order.

Unfortunately, this is how the government at all levels—federal, state and local—now responds to those who choose to exercise their First Amendment right to speak freely.

Just recently, in fact, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling protecting police from lawsuits by persons arrested on bogus “contempt of cop” charges (ranging from resisting arrest and interference to disorderly conduct, obstruction, and failure to obey a police order) that result from lawful First Amendment activities (filming police, asking a question of police, refusing to speak with police).

In Nieves v. Bartlett, the Court ruled 6-3 to dismiss the case of Russell Bartlett, an Alaska resident who was arrested at an outdoor festival for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after he refused to be interrogated by police and then intervened when police attempted to question other attendees about their drinking. While at a campsite party, Bartlett exercised his First Amendment right to refrain from speaking with a state trooper who was monitoring the event for underage alcohol consumption. Bartlett later intervened after observing another Trooper questioning a fellow camper in what he believed was an improper manner. At one point, one of the troopers reportedly caused Bartlett to stumble, then forced him to the ground, threatened to tase him if he resisted, and arrested him for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The charges were later dismissed. Bartlett sued, asserting that he was arrested in retaliation for challenging the Troopers’ authority. Although the Court recognized that people have a right to be free from a retaliatory arrest over lawful First Amendment activities, it ruled that if police have probable cause for the arrest, the person cannot sue for a free speech violation unless they can show that someone else was not arrested for the same actions.

Another case currently before the Supreme Court, Ogle v. State of Texas, involves the prosecution of a Texas man who faces up to one year in jail and a $4000 fine for sending emails to police criticizing them for failing to respond to his requests for assistance. Scott Ogle was charged with sending complaints to a sheriff’s office, including one email stating that officials were “pissing” on the Constitution. The Texas law under which Ogle was charged makes it a crime to send “annoying,” “alarming” or “harassing” electronic messages. The law is so overbroad that it could be used to punish a negative review of a restaurant posted online or caustic Facebook posts.

In yet another case, a rapper was charged with making terroristic threats after posting a song critical of police on Facebook and YouTube. In refusing to hear the case of Knox v. Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court paved the way for individuals who engage in controversial and unpopular political or artistic expression, by criticizing the police for example, to be labeled terrorists and subject to prosecution and suppression by the government. Police had been actively monitoring rapper Jamal Knox’s (a.k.a. “Mayhem Mal”) social media presence when they discovered the song titled “F**k the Police” and charged Knox and his rap partner with multiple counts of terroristic threats and witness intimidation.

These cases reflect a growing awareness about the state of free speech in America: it’s all a lie.

If we no longer have the right to tell a Census Worker to get off our property, if we no longer have the right to tell a police officer to get a search warrant before they dare to walk through our door, if we no longer have the right to stand in front of the Supreme Court wearing a protest sign or approach an elected representative to share our views, if we no longer have the right to protest unjust laws by voicing our opinions in public or on our clothing or before a legislative body, then we do not have free speech.

What we have instead is regulated, controlled, censored speech, and that’s a whole other ballgame.

Remember, the unspoken freedom enshrined in the First Amendment is the right to challenge government agents, think freely and openly debate issues without being muzzled or treated like a criminal.

Protest laws, free speech zones, bubble zones, trespass zones, anti-bullying legislation, zero tolerance policies, hate crime laws, and a host of other legalistic maladies dreamed up by politicians and prosecutors are aimed at one thing only: discouraging dissent and reminding the populace that resistance to the tyranny of the police state is futile.

Weaponized by police, prosecutors, courts and legislatures, “contempt of cop” charges have become yet another means by which to punish those individuals who refuse to be muzzled.

Cases like these have become typical of the bipolar nature of life in the American police state today: you may have distinct, protected rights on paper, but dare to exercise those rights and you put yourself at risk for fines, arrests, injuries and even death.

This is the unfortunate price of exercising one’s freedoms today.

Yet these are not new developments. We have been circling this particular drain hole for some time now.

Almost 50 years ago, in fact, Lewis Colten was arrested outside Lexington, Kentucky, for questioning police and offering advice to his friend during a traffic stop. Colten was one of 20 or so college students who had driven to the Blue Grass Airport to demonstrate against then-First Lady Pat Nixon. Upon leaving the airport, police stopped one of the cars in Colten’s motorcade because it bore an expired, out-of-state license plate. Colten and the other drivers also pulled over to the side of the road.

Fearing violence on the part of the police, Colten exited his vehicle and stood nearby while police issued his friend, Mendez, a ticket and arranged to tow his car. Police repeatedly asked Colten to leave. At one point, a state trooper declared, “This is none of your affair . . . get back in your car and please move on and clear the road.”

Insisting that he wanted to make a transportation arrangement for his friend Mendez and the occupants of the Mendez car, Colten failed to move away and was arrested for violating Kentucky’s disorderly conduct statute.

Colten subsequently challenged his arrest as a violation of his First Amendment right to free speech and took the case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which sided with the police.

Although the Court acknowledged that Colten was not trespassing or disobeying any traffic regulation himself, the majority affirmed that Colten “had no constitutional right to observe the issuance of a traffic ticket or to engage the issuing officer in conversation at that time.”

The Supreme Court’s bottom line: protecting police from inconvenience, annoyance or alarm is more important than protecting speech that, in the government’s estimation, has “no social value.”

While the ruling itself was unsurprising for a judiciary that tends to march in lockstep with the police, the dissent by Justice William O. Douglas is a powerful reminder that, in a free society, the government exists to serve the people and not the other way around.

Stressing that Colten’s speech was quiet, not boisterous, devoid of “fighting words,” and involved no overt acts, fisticuffs, or disorderly conduct in the normal meaning of the words, Douglas took issue with the idea that merely by speaking to a government representative, in this case the police—a right enshrined in the First Amendment, by the way—Colten was perceived as inconveniencing and annoying the police.

In a passionate defense of free speech, Douglas declared:

Since when have we Americans been expected to bow submissively to authority and speak with awe and reverence to those who represent us? The constitutional theory is that we the people are the sovereigns, the state and federal officials only our agents. We who have the final word can speak softly or angrily. We can seek to challenge and annoy, as we need not stay docile and quiet. The situation might have indicated that Colten’s techniques were ill-suited to the mission he was on, that diplomacy would have been more effective. But at the constitutional level speech need not be a sedative; it can be disruptive.

It’s a power-packed paragraph full of important truths that the powers-that-be would prefer we quickly forget: We the people are the sovereigns. We have the final word. We can speak softly or angrily. We can seek to challenge and annoy. We need not stay docile and quiet. Our speech can be disruptive. It can invite dispute. It can be provocative and challenging. We do not have to bow submissively to authority or speak with reverence to government officials.

In theory, of course, “we the people” have a constitutional right to talk back to the government.

The Constitution does not require Americans to be servile or even civil to government officials.

Neither does the Constitution require obedience (although it does insist on nonviolence).

In fact, the U.S. Supreme Court concluded as much in City of Houston v. Hill when it struck down a city ordinance prohibiting verbal abuse of police officers as unconstitutionally overbroad and a criminalization of protected speech.

Unfortunately, the brutal reality of the age in which we live is far different from the ideals set forth in the Bill of Rights: talking back—especially when the police are involved—can get you killed.

The government does not want us to remember that we have rights, let alone attempting to exercise those rights peaceably and lawfully. And it definitely does not want us to engage in First Amendment activities that challenge the government’s power, reveal the government’s corruption, expose the government’s lies, and encourage the citizenry to push back against the government’s many injustices.

We’re in deep trouble, folks.

Freedom no longer means what it once did.

Not only do we no longer have dominion over our bodies, our families, our property and our lives, but the government continues to chip away at what few rights we still have to speak freely and think for ourselves.

If the government can control speech, it can control thought and, in turn, it can control the minds of the citizenry.

Protest laws, contempt of cop charges, and all of the other bogus violations used by cops and prosecutors to muzzle discontent and discourage anyone from challenging government authority are intended to send a strong message that in the American police state, you’re either part of the herd, marching in lockstep with the government’s dictates, or you’re a pariah, a suspect, a criminal, a troublemaker, a terrorist, a radical, a revolutionary.

Yet by muzzling the citizenry, by removing the constitutional steam valves that allow people to speak their minds, air their grievances and contribute to a larger dialogue that hopefully results in a more just world, the government is creating a climate in which violence becomes inevitable.

When there is no steam valve—when there is no one to hear what the people have to say, because government representatives have removed themselves so far from their constituents—then frustration builds, anger grows and people become more volatile and desperate to force a conversation.

As John F. Kennedy warned in March 1962, “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

As I point out in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, the government is making violent revolution inevitable.

State Department Program Targeting Critics of Trump’s Iran Policy Draws Congressional Scrutiny – Mother Jones

House Democrats are investigating the State Department’s Department’s use of a program that was originally put in place to counter Russian propaganda and terrorist

disinformation to fund criticism of opponents of President Donald Trump’s policy on Iran.News broke last week that the Global Engagement Center—a small office in the State Department tasked with combating foreign propaganda—had provided funding to the Iran Disinformation Project, an anonymous website and Twitter account that has been accused of harassing journalists, academics, and human rights activists who question Trump’s aggressive posture toward Iran. On Friday, the State Department announced that it was suspending funding for the project until whoever is behind it “takes necessary steps to ensure that any future activity remains within the agreed scope of work.” According to the Guardian, many of the tweets were deleted that day.

But the controversy has drawn scrutiny from Democrats in Congress. House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) this week requested that Global Engagement Center officials brief committee staff on the agency’s grant spending, a committee aide told Mother Jones. Officials from the center have agreed to meet with staffers next Monday, the aide said. Rep. Ami Bera (D-Calif.), who chairs a Foreign Affairs Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, is also looking into the issue, a Bera spokesman said.

Democratic lawmakers are concerned that the Trump White House repurposed an office set up to combat foreign propaganda and online extremism to support allies of its hawkish stance on Iran. In February, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo named Lea Gabrielle, a former Fox News journalist—who had little diplomatic experience—to run the Global Engagement Center.

The center’s apparent shift in focus came as the Trump administration escalated its confrontation with Iran. Last year, Trump pulled out of a nuclear deal with Iran signed by former President Barack Obama. Iran and European signatories say they continue to abide by the agreement, but Trump has sinceslapped new sanctions on Iran and has denounced the country with bellicose rhetoric. Pompeo hasdemanded that Tehran agree to a long list of demands, including an end to peaceful nuclear power efforts, withdrawal of its forces from Syria, and an end to support for groups including Hezbollah and Hamas.

Brett Bruen, who was director of Global Engagement at the White House under Obama, said that under Pompeo, the repurposing of the agency was clear. “They made a decision to spend the money to align with the political agenda of the administration, rather than what it was intended to do, which was to protect Americans and our allies from disinformation,” Bruen said.

The center was established in 2016 by Obama to “counter the messaging and diminish the influence of international terrorist organizations.” Bruen said the center won $80 million from Congress in 2016 also to combat disinformation from Russia and other states. He argued the Trump administration was uninterested in that mission, slashing funding for the center, before late last year hastily allocating about $20 million for other purposes. “It’s unclear if they were given orders to ignore Russia,” he said. “But they certainly have prioritized Iran.”

The State Department did not respond to questions about the center’s grants. Bruen said he believed the Iran Disinformation Project received a grant worth “tens of thousands” of dollars, a small piece of the millions the center doled out to support hawkish voices on Iran. Its Twitter account, @IranDisinfo, drew notice for attacking Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, who spent a year and half in prison in Iran; BBC reporters; Human Rights Watch, and especially the National Iranian American Council, a group that describes itself as a nonpartisan organization of Americans with Iranian heritage who support diplomacy with Iran. The account suggested these critics of current US policy were apologists or secret advocates for the Iranian government.

Jamal Abdi, the president of the NIAC, said in an interview that the account’s attacks were part of a broader “astroturf campaign” by Iran hawks to demonize his groups. Abdi said he hopes Congress will determine if “any member of the Trump Administration or U.S. government agency has been involved in guiding, coordinating, or encouraging attacks and propaganda against critics or political opponents of the Trump Administration.”

President Donald Trump Neither Exonerated nor Vindicated by Mueller
Michael_Novakhov shared this story from Costa Rica Star News.

In his Costa Rica Star column of March, 25, Britt Nelson claimed Special Counsel Robert Mueller had “vindicated” Donald Trump and concluded that there was no “collusion” between members of the Trump campaign and agents of the Russian government.

I re-read Britt Nelson’s column in the wake of Robert Mueller’s public statements on May, 29, and could only wonder how Mr. Nelson could have come to such an obviously flawed and erroneous conclusion.

Robert Mueller never exonerated Donald Trump, not in his written report or in his first and only public comments regarding the Russia Investigation on May, 29.

Nor did Mueller ever say there was no “collusion” between some members of the Trump campaign and Russian operatives.

The meeting at Trump Tower in which Don Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and several other top campaign aides met with Russian operatives, in the hopes of getting “dirt” on Hillary Clinton, was a form of collusion. But, as is well known, collusion, in and of itself, is not a crime.

Mueller and his investigators, however, did not find enough evidence to support a charge of “criminal conspiracy “ relating to the very real “collusion” with Russian agents that occurred in Trump Tower in June, 2016.

Mr. Nelson’s claim in his March column that Mueller had “vindicated” Trump was even more erroneous than his claim there was no “collusion”.

That became crystal clear when Mueller said in his public statements on May, 29 that, and I am paraphrasing a bit, if he and his team could have been certain Trump had not committed the crime of obstruction of justice, they would have said so. However, they could not do so, and because Mueller knew he could not indict a sitting president, per Department of Justice custom, he has left the task of holding Donald Trump accountable to the Congress.

In addition, the evidence the Mueller team compiled has no doubt been shared with prosecutors in other jurisdictions, most notably the Southern District of New York – where Donald Trump remains an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the crimes that sent Michael Cohen to federal prison for three years.

Donald Trump’s legal and political woes are from over, and he knows it. He knows if he is not re-elected next year his status as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the Cohen case will change to “indicted co-conspirator” the minute his successor is sworn in.

I would also bet other prosecutors will be waiting, with all the evidence the Mueller team compiled regarding any possible obstruction of justice, with their own indictments and subpoenas in hand, to see to it private citizen Trump gets his long overdue day in court and a fair trial.

In the meantime, let’s set the record straight.

Members of the Trump campaign team did collude with Russian agents looking to influence and interfere in our democratic processes; and Robert Mueller neither “vindicated” nor “exonerated” Donald Trump, not in his written report or in his public comments of May, 29.

Not by a long shot.

CNN Sues FBI Seeking Release of Mueller Investigation Memos
Michael_Novakhov shared this story .

An American pay television channel is resorting to legal action to obtain documents used in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The Cable News Network (CNN) has sued the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after the bureau allegedly failed to satisfy the broadcaster’s March freedom of information (FOIA) request for “FBI memoranda from any and all” of the witness interviews.

CNN’s FOIA request could potentially concern the FBI’s contested “302 reports,” in which agents—not the witness—would have recorded by hand the the answers given by about 500 witnesses to Mueller and his team during the two-year probe that Trump revealed to have cost taxpayers $40 million.

The documents requested by CNN would also include some of the documents U.S. President Donald Trump authorized Attorney General William Barr to declassify on May 23, pending the cooperation of the intelligence community, that relate to any surveillance activities surrounding the campaigns in the 2016 Presidential election.

Included in witness interviews being requested by CNN would be the details of what individuals like former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen, and former deputy Trump campaign chairman Richard Gates told investigators.

Cohen is already serving time in prison for lying to Congress, among other crimes like campaign finance violations.

Judge Royce Lamberth will preside at a district court in Washington to pass his judgement on the dispute.

Only a handful of Mueller’s memos—those linked to Flynn’s December 2016 conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak—have already been made public.

The Washington Post has separately asked a court to remove redactions in the memo concerning Flynn’s January 2017 FBI interview about his conversations with Kislyak, to which Flynn ultimately pleaded guilty to lying in after someone leaked the highly classified call to the media—a far more serious felony violation.

BuzzFeed News is also trying to obtain the “302” memos, while the Electronic Privacy Information Center is separately seeking a broader trove of documents about the Russia-Trump Campaign probe.

Trump explained on May 23 that now was the time to proceed with the declassification of surveillance documents because the special counsel investigation’s was over and the problem appearing to obstruct the probe was no more.

“Today’s action will help ensure that all Americans learn the truth about the events that occurred, and the actions that were taken, during the last Presidential election and will restore confidence in our public institutions,” Trump posted to Twitter.

Trump’s announcement came after the House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed Attorney General William Barr for an unredacted version of the Mueller report, to which Barr declined after The White House asserted executive privilege over the report on May 8. Democrats on the committee then voted to recommend that the House of Representatives hold Barr in contempt for defying the subpoena.

The full house will vote on whether to hold Barr in contempt on June 11.

CNN and Trump

President Donald Trump openly admits he is not CNN’s biggest fan.

Trump wrote on Twitter on June 3 from London, “CNN is the primary source of news available from the U.S. After watching it for a short while, I turned it off.”

The president has grave concerns about the pay TV company’s reporting ethics.

“All negative & so much Fake News, very bad for U.S. Big ratings drop,” he wrote, adding in a subsequent tweet, “It is so unfair with such bad, Fake News.”

Trump suggested disenchanted CNN viewers could stop using AT&T to force the TV company’s owner to intervene.

“I believe that if people stopped using or subscribing to AT&T, they would be forced to make big changes at CNN, which is dying in the ratings anyway,” Trump wrote. “Why wouldn’t they act? When the world watches CNN, it gets a false picture of USA. Sad!”

Joel Zamel‘s name does not even come up in the searchable Mueller Report, unless it is redacted due to “ongoing investigation“.
The extent and the depth of his companies’ Social Media Manipulations and other shenanigans, some of them overtly criminal, might exceed all the other attempts by far, given their global reach and experience. The activities of theRussian “Internet Research Agency” might be a child’s play by comparison, and could well be the misleading cover and/or the secondary, less efficient and less important tool.

In fact, all these “social media companies” and groups specializing on Elections Interference, might be owned and operated, through persons like Zamel and others, by the same people and operators, namely the Russian Israeli Jewish Mafia; and it is absolutely does not matter who those intermediaries are or what shingles they hang on their doors.

And the Jewish-German New Abwehr is very likely behind all of these, in their efforts to conquer and to rule the World “legally”, without big wars, through elections; according to their old, original, and still valid plan.

No statistical or quantitative studies were performed or even proposed to address the questions about the effects of the interference by the various parties and their comparisons, while the speculations on this subject as rampant as they are fruitless, and just the speculations; or at best, the “educated (or not so educated) guesses.

Ask Nate Silver, a reputable pollster, to do these studies, it is better than nothing and better than ignorance. And after that jump to your conclusions.

Investigate and prosecute if indicated, Joel Zamel, his companies, and all other similar figures and entities. His implied, reported, or presumed connections with the Israeli Intelligence circles should not be in any way the impediment to these inquiries, unless these circles intend to be dragged into these inquiries themselves.

The possibly staged events like those suspicious incidents with Hillary Clinton and Jerry Nadler, described in the previous posts, are the boon for the “Social Media Manipulation” firms like the Psy Group owned by Joel Zamel; that’s exactly what they need: to paint the political opponents as weak, sick, incapable, and incapacitated. That what makes you think that these events were purposefully staged, possibly with the new type of the Portable Directed Energy Weapons, which apparently (we do not know much about it) used in the military-intelligence operations, and in police work for crowd control.
