Time is running out to save the countless people still buried under rubble after the massive earthquake that struck Myanmar and the wider Southeast Asia area two days ago.
On Monday, the smell of decaying bodies filled the street’s of Myanmar’s second-largest city as people worked frantically to clear debris in the hopes of finding someone still alive. The death toll has already reached more than 1,600 while many remain missing among collapsed buildings.
The 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck at roughly 12.50pm on Friday with an epicenter near Mandalay. The powerful tremors brought down scores of buildings and were felt elsewhere, including Thailand and south-west China.
