Val Kilmer, the actor best known for his roles in Top Gun, Batman Forever and The Doors, has died at the age of 65.
His daughter Mercedes told the New York Times that the cause of death was pneumonia. Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and later recovered, after treatment with chemotherapy and trachea surgery that had reduced his vocal capability.
The Indian indices opened marginally higher today amid mixed global cues with Nifty around 23200.
The Sensex was up 111.58 points or 0.15 percent at 76,136.09, and the Nifty was up 30.50 points or 0.13 percent at 23,196.20. About 717 shares advanced, 469 shares declined, and 73 shares unchanged.
Tata Consumer, Trent, Tech Mahindra, Zomato, ONGC were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were HUL, HCL Technologies, Dr Reddy’s Labs, NTPC and Reliance Industries.
