After supporting the recently enacted Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, state BJP Minority Morcha president Askar Ali Makakmayum’s home in Manipur’s Thoubal district was vandalized and set on fire by a mob, allegedly from the Muslim community, on Sunday. Askar Ali expressed regret for the tragedy and called on the federal government to revoke the new law.
