WWII-era train car that went missing in NJ found in Missouri

One of New Jersey’s greatest mysteries may have been solved as a train car missing for 67 years is believed to have been found. After World War II, France – in a show of gratitude – sent every state a train boxcar. They were called the “Merci Trains.” New Jersey’s train was sent to the state in 1949 and went missing nine years later. People have been searching for it ever since. But the United Railroad Historical Society posted some pictures stating that the train was found in a warehouse in Kansas City, Missouri. No one is sure how it wound up there, but it has been authenticated as New Jersey’s boxcar. The car will now be brought back to the Garden State for rehabilitation in Boonton.
