Elon Musk could make almost $100,000 a month from Twitter users who subscribe to him

Elon Musk shared a screenshot on Monday of his Twitter profile indicating to users how to monetize on the social media platform.

The Twitter owner, who announced the rebranding of the “Super Follows” feature on April 13 as “Subscriptions” allowing users to subscribe to exclusive content, appears to have at least 24,700 subscribers himself, according to the screenshot he tweeted.

Musk previously said those who subscribe to him, for $4 a month according to his profile, will be able to “ask-me-anything” once every few weeks.

Per Insider’s calculations, if Musk has 24,700 subscribers he would make $98,800 a month.

Musk said users will be able, through “Subscriptions,” to charge followers for exclusive content, including long-form text, long-form videos, and subscriber-only Spaces. Subscribers would also get special badges. 

Insider contacted Twitter for comment. The company responded with an automated message that didn’t address the inquiry. Musk was also contacted for comment.

Musk, who once was the world’s richest man and lost the top spot to LVMH’s Bernard Arnault, is worth $165 billion, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

He also owns another four other companies alongside Twitter, including Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, and Neuralink.

Since taking over the social media company in October, Musk implemented new features, such as Twitter Blue, which allow users to get a blue check mark if they paid for a monthly membership. He also reduced the workforce by about 80%.
